DAMBA
Yendi, Ghana DVD, 35 minutes
This video documents the Damba festival, an ancient ritual of the Dagomba people of northern Ghana. This video highlights the 11th day of the Damba celebration and features the procession of the paramount chief, dance drummers of Damba, and the chief of fiddlers at Naa Palace, and includes scenes of Sulley Imoro dancing. KWAMIVI TSEGAH'S FUNERAL
Anyako, Ghana 2007 DVD, 50 minutes
This video documents the funeral of Kwamivi Tsegah, a respected elder in Anyako village, Ghana. The video features a variety of Ewe dance drumming performances including "Afli," "Afa," and "Axatsevu." In the video you will also see the wakekeeping, funeral services, and entertainment for the funeral provided by Balimba Ballete, a dance drumming group from No Man's Land. HUSUNU'S DURBAR
Anyako, Ghana 2007 DVD, 40 minutes
This video features Husunu Ladzekpo's Durbar, a celebration commemorating the 30th anniversary of his death. In this video, you will see traditional Ewe dance drumming, which includes "Gadzo," "Axatsevu," and "Agbekor." The video also documents traditional Ewe songs, the procession to the cemetary, and the libations and tree planting made at the ceremonies. Videography and research: Nico Spezzacatena.
